Kurume & Modesto Celebrate
15 Years of Friendship
MSCI's Kurume Committee
hosted a delegation of 35 visitors from Kurume October 27-29, 2007. The delegation included the Mayor of Kurume and the award-winning Bridgestone Band (pictured below) along
with other Kurume citizens. The visit was in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Kurume/Modesto
sister cities agreement signed in 1992. The band will performed with local favorite
Home Grown in an outstanding concert. A softball game was played
at Davis Field against a team of locasl Rotarians.
A public reception was
held
at the McHenry Mansion. A representative from Congressman Cardoza's office
read a statement and presented a certificate. Gifts were exchanged and a time
capsule sealed at the 5th anniversary was opened.
