Khmelnitskiy, Ukraine


The city of Khmelnitskiy is located in Khmlenitskiy region in western Ukraine. It became a sister city of Modesto in 1987 while still a part of the Soviet Union.

MSCI received a group from Khmelnitskiy October 9th through the 21st.  Their delegation included city council members, other city officials, businessmen, teachers and artists.  Visiting artist, Olena Shorupska presented a peice of artwork to the city of Modesto.  The group visited San Francisco, Columbia Park, the Heifer Project, Modesto sites and government, City waste treatment and composting facilities, and area businesses and farms.

 MSCI's Khmelnitskiy commiteee from a sucessful and enjoyable trip to Khmelnitskiy.   MSCI was represented by Oscar and Jennifer Ardans and Bill Bishop.  The delegation also included Councilman Garrad Marsh and his wife Dallas as well as two members of the original delegation who went to Khmelnitskiy in 1987 to sign the initial agreement, Gene Palgrove and Cam McCune.
